OK, so there are two sierras near me. Both 1.8
But one is an estate and one a saphire saloon.
Both 300 at a dealer (so can probably go down to 250-275).
Would there be a problem using an estate (i.e. rear diff e.t.c) or prop shafrs?
no problems with either - but they sound expensive to me
Yeah. its a dealer price.
None of our local breakers have one and 2nd hand in the paper they are around 250.
I got a 1.6 Estate for 80 quid from the local paper.
I got a low mileage 1.8 off ebay for £85 with 3 months tax on it.
Jammy sod. Cheapest I've seen is a Saloon for 295. But then thats got about 100 quid of tax on it too and 60K on the clock. The other is an
estate for £295 but 100k.
Even the local breakers are saying they are not keeping them.
I get the feeling by the type the 3rd ed of The Book comes out Serras are going to be quite hard to get hold of.
Its a pain. I could really do with a car for the week end too for lugging some stuffs around.
Now turns out its more of a dilema as the low milage saloon is viewable tomorrow, but the 100K estate is a one owner from new (I do wonder if its
haunted).

Dunno. they seemed a miserable lot at our local breakers. I think I'll try asking a few others too.
I had a look at the estate. He wanted 250 for it. I said how about 225, he was OK with that, but then after a low speed durn in the road the left
front spring broke (you could hear a sort of springy donk turning left)
The steering wheel was something like 1/4 turn out of align with the wheels.
It would have been alright for a donor but I don't know if that would have been a problem for me this weekend when out driving with 3 in the car
+ about 2 people worth of weight in luggage lobbed in too.
I rang all the local scrapyards, scowered the free/local papers, loot, exchange&mart, ebay, and went online for sale sites such as autotrader,
findit, fridaymotors, moto-trader, used car mart, preloved and freeads for six months.
I was about to pay £500 for an excellent condition 1 owner Mk1 Sierra when I was told to post a wanted advert here:
http://forum.fordsierraclub.co.uk/
A week later I had an F-Reg Saphire with 2.0i pinto, that had jut failed it's MOT on welding, for £50!
Worth waiting for a car to come along if you can.
I would go for the estate as I think they have a lower ratio diff in them. Check it out!!
I paid £46 for my K reg 1.6 azure Sierra off wbay with an MOT!!
Sold the stripped body on for £30...

They are a very good bunch and there are a few cars up for sale right now so contact them on www.fordsierraclub.co.uk
If deffo would not pay £200 + for a donor car i picked up both of mine for the total sum of £120.00 one from a local yellow advertiser and the other
from the club
I would wait cos you can pick them up sub £100. whitha ticket and tax
J
Thanks yep. The main thing is that it would be really useful to have the car as a run around for the next couple of week ends before getting abused by
a spanner set.
I'm gonna pop an add in the local co-op and see if I get a response from that.
I'm just pissed that the bloke down the road scapped his on a week end I was on holiday.
Got mine for £175, sold all the bits I didn't need on Ebay. Ended up with a car that cost me minus £30.. Now thats Locost. Regards Ray.
