Here are some pictures of my donor steering column. Is there anything I should check before putting it into the kit? So far I have done nothing to
it. The bottom triangular shaft seems glued into the upper column. There is a little hole in the middle section which looks like it should have a
grub screw in it. I was thinking of tapping a new thread in it. It does seem to be mildly out of true as well, is this something to worry about.

The triangular section is the collapsible bit - you definitely shouldn't put a grub screw in there
Irony,
As above don't screw the collapsible bottom bit in... No no no...
You could get the bush kit to replace the plastics if they need it..

That has the triangular bit you need to stop the bottom section from sliding about...
Hmm I seem to be lacking some serious info about these then. Is the bottom triangular bit supposed to freely slide in and out of the middle portion? Its stuck in tight on mine with some sort of glue. In a accident what happens to the column?

Also the bush kit as mentioned by jossey is not the one for this problem. That relates to the bush where column goes through chassis mount.
This is the bush you should see.
As mentioned above I sent the wrong bush link.
You should be able to move the two sections that easy but I use mole grips and a hammer and tap it in and out....
Hope that helps.
I got my plastic from ford about 2 year back..
