I'm BEC on the road!

Please excuse the tabloid headline

Some of you will know that I broke my MK by hitting my sump on a kerb when setting off back in June. Well there's been a few ups and downs, but I'm now officially back on the road after a successful 40 mile drive yesterday.

It's meant dismantling half my car and my engine, but I've learned loads and it's been fun! So whilst I didn't build my car myself, I've now dismantled and "remantled" most of it

Story and lots of pictures on my website: -

Congratulations Sy. If it ever breaks again, you'll be able to strip it down whilst blindfolded

It's all been good experience. And I haven't missed that many good summer days, it's not been the greatest weather in all honesty!

There's still cosmetic bits to do, like I haven't put any ally trim around where the exhaust exists yet. Planning to do that over winter, hoping to get the paintwork sorted first so no point sticking stuff to the fibreglass until thats sorted!

But I MUST make a sump guard post haste. On my drive out on Saturday I was cringing at every slight pothole in the road

Where's the best place to get some chequerplate from? (Leeds/Bradford area).

My local b and q stock it in small sizes and a couple of thicknesses. The rally lads use carbon a lot and i recently enquired about this and other poss items to be made bespoke by Carbon Mods ltd. Really helpful and very realistic prices I thought.
Good luck.
