BEC 36/1 trigger wheel
Hi All
I just thought I'd post a picture of the new trigger wheel in my R1. Some of you may remember I was running an external trigger wheel on my 5JJ
motor but that was pretty complicated and troublesome so I wanted to do it properly on the 5VY engine!
So, here it is-

those teeth look tiny. have you check wether you get a good enough signal off of then whilst cranking?
im planning to put a similar sized wheel on my 5vy but havent yet because i wasnt sure if teeth that small would give a good enough signal using the
stock vr sensor.

Nice... I'm not surprised Henryk is upgrading as well!

That was my concern! I've spoken to Chris at Trigger wheels at length over this - he's tested this size wheel with a stock sensor to over
20000 rpm. I've yet to have it running as the engine's still out of the car and the ECU is still with Emerald.
Tim - Henryk's upgraded to the latest R1 with the variable intake trumpets - I hate him :-)

with a vr sensor the amplitude of the signal increases almost exponentially with speed so the real issue is whether the ecu can read it at cranking
speeds.

Chris has also tested it with the same kind of processor used by Emerald apparently.
Here are the original and 36/1 wheel side by side.

I'm running an Emerald ECU which, like a lot of aftermarket ECU's aren't designed to pick up on some of the bike trigger wheels,
hence the 36/1.
