You want to go REALLY big with that high reving bike motor. I'm trying to think of the name that all the Westfield Sprint guys use.
Tech..summat... Dammit can't remember, but think HUUUUGE!

Mine's a 29 x 7" Simpson silencer which does a good job on my '03 R1, cost about £220
Anything sub 6" and/or shorter than about 25" maybe OK on turbocharged cars etc, but it isn't going to silence a BEC sufficiently
unfortunately.

It dosn't have to be big to be efficient.
The R1 Can on my bike engine car only just scraped trough SVA.

Hi Steve
A small silencer can be quiet fairly easily, and a small silencer can be free flowing, but Ive yet to see one that does both.
Its worth remembering about the R1 cans as well that they fairly quickly degrade and get quite noisy. You could have picked up one that was already on
its way out because people have got normally aspirated BECs through SVA with an R1 can, so a turbocharged car like yours (where the turbo absorbs a
lot of the noise) is very unlikely to be louder I wouldnt think, certainly with a friend's BEC turbo busa its significantly quieter now with the
turbo despite running the same silencer etc.
cheers
Chris

Hi Pat,
Ive not been on a trackday that has tested it properly yet but I tested it myself with a noise meter I borrowed that's at least as good as those
used on most trackdays and it was between 96-97db at a true 8,000rpm, so will be lower than that on most 3/4 tests where you can generally get away
with 7 - 7.5k. With the knackerd R1 can it was about 105db!
Also this is with an open sausage filter and a hole in the bonnet so Im getting a lot of induction noise in there, I reckon with a proper airbox I
could get that down below mid-90's quite easily.
cheers
Chris

Just cause your over 30 now doesn't mean you have to act like an old man!!!!!
You need a nice sounding sporty exhaust note, not a quiet one
Leave it alone

i have a remus back box on mine which looks very similar in size to yours steve, i failed the noise test at my last trackday at 103db, and that was
with me gutting the original sound wadding, and repacked it with a full bag of merlin motorsports stuff. had to put a tail piece thing on it to get
back on track!
Im going to go for something like you have chris!
