Most are metric fine, so with a 12mm head i'd hazard a guess at 8mm thread. Which bolts do you mean exactly?

M10 Fine I believe

I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours. http://shop.ebay.co.uk/furoreproducts/m.html?_dmd=1&_ipg=50&_sop=12&_rdc=1

The two long bolts on the gearbox are 10mm, but when i tried one in the top mounting position, they just pass straight through.

It's the one on the left.

Mine's like that. M12 goes through and a nut on the back. Rescued attachment cradle3.jpg

yours, Pete

I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

I'm sure that m12 was too big for me

(I'm sure M11 is a standard size in Japan, but not Europe). I sleaved the hole and used M10.

Cheers

Ian

Bought some M12's today, fit perfectly, so to recap, zx9r 1998, M10 bottom bolts, and M12 top bolts.
Cheers fellas.
