cutting the sprocket nut

collected my prop today, seems like the nut that hold on the prop adapter is too large, its trying to get into the universal joint. It needs cutting down along the red line in the photo. This is not part of the nut that actually grips thread, so i figure theres no harm removing it, but equally, theres no harm asking! What do you think?

Also, hows best to hold it on, seeing as its going to be hard to bend the locking washer back up. Will regular threadlock be up to it? I figure it cant come off even with no nut as the prop hold it on, just dont want to make a mess of it.
