R1 engine location

evening all
Does the engine look about in the right position. I've tried to keep the exhaust outlets about the measurements as those of the blade ( the edge of the rocker cover is about 3 inches in from the top rail and the gearbox output is in about the same place, but the bottom engine mount is about 8 inches in from the nearest bottom rail which I am a bit concerned is too much. Was thinking of putting a cross brace from the drivers side pinto engine mount to just inside the transmission tunnel on the passengers side. any constructive ideas appreciated Rescued attachment enginepos1.jpg

I would move the sprocket end more to the right and the front more to the left if it will go. I'd also move it back a bit as well. you only need a few mm clearance between the engine and the passenger foot well.

Nice to see you wearing safety shoes as well

Is mounting it along the chassis rail like that OK, I recall others mentioning doing similar but from that pic it looks like it would put quite an angle on the front UJ?

yeah - me too, I made parallel flanges on the front prop my first priority.- this does quite a dog-leg as a result but the angular errors should cancel out (in theory!). In other words the crank is parallel to the chassis centreline.
