1987 F1 Replica. Busa II Turbo

G'day Guys,
I'm new here, thought I would share my project.
I year or so ago a blood vessel in my brain popped, and the next thing I knew I was building this! It's a loose replica of the iconic 1987 Williams FW11B.
The car was scaled to about 90%, using the same track and base of an F3000. I'm also using wheels and slicks from an F3000 as these are easy to get a hold of.

I started with the rear of the car first, engine, suspension etc.
The engine is a Gen 2 Busa with my own budget Turbo set up. I plan to leave stock and use E85 fuel for its low knock. CR will be stock. Inter cooler will be used. I'm going to need some help tuning this thing. That's for later.

I cant see how to attach pictures here?
So here is a link to a series of videos on the build.

Very cool project and I am incredibly jealous of your workshop space

What are your plans for the car ? What put me of a single seat project was I wouldn’t be able to do anything with it. Not roadworthy, not allowed on a general track day and not eligible or competitive for any sort of race series.

That is a very nice project indeed. Congratulation and I'm looking forward to see it finished

To publish photos in a post:
- go on the link "Photo Archive", top left of this page, just under the locostbuiders logo
- click on the button just next to "Upload new photo", bottom right
- when you have selected the photo, click on "Uplaoad" on the right
- once uploaded, your photo appears as a thumbnail just above
- click on this thumbnail to open it
- select and copy the "Forum Code:" starting by [pg]...
- go back to your post
- paste this code in your post
- your photo will be displayed like this
Description
Description

- when readers put their pointer on it, the photo is displayed in large.

It looks a bit tedious, but after a while, you'll get used to it and it is not that bad.

Hope that will help

Plenty of single seaters legal & on the road, or do what I did & make a 2 seater that sometimes appears to be a single seater, & no probs using on trackdays as long as the wheels are covered, no different to a 7 in terms of what you can do with the car

I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours. http://shop.ebay.co.uk/furoreproducts/m.html?_dmd=1&_ipg=50&_sop=12&_rdc=1

That's going to be one epic build when it's done! Fair play.

Thanks for the positive feedback guys,

It sure has been a fun project to date, and I really love working on it.

As for is use, well Im the sort of guy that builds first and works through the red tape later. What I tend to find is that if you create something really cool regardless of any "rules" an opportunity always tends to open up.

But with that said I did make some inquiries and have learned that I can run it with other open wheelers on track or open practice days, F3, F1000, Formula Fords etc etc.
I also have access some to some large private airfields so can give her a run there too.
Its not for street use! Oh my god the cops here would go nutz!!!! Australia is the biggest nanny state in the western world.

I think If I do even a half decent job here, this thing will be a rocket.

PS Thank you voucht for the photo archive info. I'll give that a try. See below latest body work pics This a just a big pattern for composite mold making.

Cheers P
