Fuel pressure regulator for a gravity-fed carb
Hi all - first post, but have been reading for a while.
OK so I'm building a bike engine'ed mini at the moment, and need to figure out fueling it.
The engine is from a Honda VTR1000, which is gravity fed to it's 2 HUGE carbs.
I have the engine in the back and the fuel cell in the front, and so far ive not got a fuel pump ordered at all.
So what i need is a fuel pump, and/or regulator that is suitably low pressure to be suitable for gravity fed carbs. What do you guys normally use in
this case? I see quite a few regulators for sale but they only go down to something like 1.5psi, whch i feel may easily flood the carbs if the float
cant keep the pressure back...
Thanks!
Peter

Most people with BEC's or car engines using bike carbs stick to similar sized bike fuel pumps.
I can't remember which way round it is, but I think for bike pumps it's low pressure, high flow rate - from memory.
I know others have used aftermarket pumps and regs in similar setups, but my advice would be bike pump from similarly sized engine.

As above avoid a regulator if possible use a low pressure pump if you do need a regulator this one goes down to 1 psi for vintage cars that
were originally fitted with an Autovac or scuttle fuel tank.

You could always make a swirl pot to sit above the engine and gravity feed from that. Any LP pump to fill the pot but make the pipes from tank to pot
5mm supply and 10mm return.

Hi
We have an R1 engine 1000cc in the front
and use this ZX9R pump under the tank at the back
all works fine.
Good luck
