Fireblade alternative airbox
Hi all,
my Fisher Fury is almost finished ( http://sylvafury.blogspot.fr/ )
The original 919 airbox don't fit under bonnet for about 2 inch, to much
to cut the box and i don't want to make a hole in the bonnet.
Perhaps there are aftermarket airbox that fit and work with this engine ?
your experience is welcome, many thank.

Andy Bates makes them
http://www.abperformance.co.uk/default.aspx
For the track you need to think about reducing induction noise, as Andy's was developed for RGB racing you get a quiet solution that does not
impact power.

i don't rate it paul, mine fell in bits after a couple of years and needed patching up with loads of fiberglass. i've heard of others
doing the same.
also on the rollers it showed the actual filter to be quite restrictive.

thank all but the pipercross 600 and AB performance airbox seem to no fit under the bonnet too.
I think try to install bonnet a bit more high with rubber and try to chop the oem airbox.

I know reverie make a box for the fireblade and tbh it isn't a complicated design. It really wouldn't be difficult to carve out of foam
and then cover in glass or carbon cloth and then glue it/use appropriate fittings onto an exisiting backplate. Here's mine which i would never
have bought without spotting it on ebay.

Hi all, well, i have chopped the oem airbox and put filter at the out of this.
I have an issue with my fireblade, idle is fine, but in the 5-8k range engine don't work well, seem to be some missefire.
this problem is only when the car run on road, at neutral it's ok.
this engine is stopped for about ten years but have low milage (1000 miles).
I have order new sparks plugs but not sure is the problem.
what you think about this ?

sorry but I doubt it's plugs.
Have you ever had it running correctly, like with the old airbox?
Has it been jetted to suit he car/exhaust?

it's the same with airbox not modified.
I have not verified jets but i think it's oem setup.
I will try with new plugs, if it don't work, i'll see carbs, clean, jets setup. thank.

A re jet will almost certainly fix that, classic fuel ratio symptom. Presumably you're running a free flowing exhaust and not the OEM can, in
which case it will be running lean. Bigger jets should sort it. Pay a man with a rolling road.

exhaust setup is: a 4-1 manifold + rapackable silencer.
"OEM can": don't understand this, sorry.

I mean standard fireblade exhaust which will ne more restrictive than your setup, which is why the fuelling is wrong.

i understand,
i have open carbs, not very clean. i do an ultrasonic cleaning this week.
main jets are 120
idle 40
it's seem to be the oem setup.
Where is connected the central tubbing going to diaphragm chamber on the bike ?
What main jets have you with not oem airbox/exhaust ?
carbs

I have 128 mains but exhaust isn't the most free flowing. For straight through I believe around 132 is the norm.
