Fireblade starting
Hi all,
I have try to start my fireblade carb engine (1999) without succes.
- I have a small leak at the pump, need to see why.
- petrol leak by the tube marked in red on the picture, I think pressure is too hight (?) and I have walnut the engine.
questions:
- Do i need to set up pressure on the fuel regulator and how many psi ?
- Where must go the tub connected to carb ( marked in red on picture) ?

If possible, get a bike engined fuel pump. I'm sure it is possible with something else and a pressure regulator but I don't think
it's easy.
The bike pumps only pump when fuel is needed in the float chamber.

Top tube is just a breather, point to downwards and ignore.
Blades when are started occasionally can be really hard to start, thye will just keep winding over without any sign of life, pull the plugs, heat with
a blow torch and drop in hot, then try.

Thank you,
I have a FSE Facet Fuel pump and a King Filter/regulator.
Anyone know how psi must set-up to carb ?
I think it must be set at minimum to fuel can go to carb.
Tomorrow i try again.

The facet fuel pump and regulator does NOT WORK. Whatever pressure you set it will change and flood the carburretors with fuel. The fuel is leaking
out of the vent hose because pressure has overcome the float bowl needle valves. Sell the pump and regulator and buy a pump from an early blade - it
will work perfectly. The pressure is 1-11/2 psi which that regulator will never hold

ok, I see, it's a 893 pump.
only one on ebay for me, and it's a bidding sale.
Are there others setup that are work ?

You can also use early zx9r fuel pump, it is the same part number

yeh, andys right, the bike pump is self regulating unlike the constant flow facet pump & filter king regulator set up, all you need is a filter
to go with the bike pump, however just when you think it has to be fuel problem think again, after my blade had been SORNed for over a year i wanted
to get it back on the road, would it start, would it heck, was convinced it was a lean fuel problem as there was some humungus backfiring on the
starter, so cleaned carbs, changed rubber fuel lines which were perished anyhow, to cut a long story short i noticed there seemed to be a weak spark
on all 4 cylinders so slapped in a new bike battery & plugs & hey presto started 1st time......trying to start a blade with fouled plugs is
like using a chocolate teapot, its not gonna work

Well, tomorrow I try with a gravity fuel delivery setup.
For the bike fuel pump, I must place it where in the line ?
near engine or tank ?

Near the tank is where mine is mate... I run the ZX9R pump with no trouble.

Engine run nicely ( after 10 years ) with a tank more high than carbs and without pump.
I have order a zx9-r pump.
