Where is my sump plug!! 919 blade..
Next on my winter up-grade list is an oil and filter change..
Easy!!!!!!! Until I looked for my sump plug?? Its not there.. Looks like a stock 919 sump but where the plug should be all I have is a lump on
weld!!
So looking at the filter housing I see a black rubber hose which runs under the sump and I'm guess directly to the oil pump housing? With out
taking a pic does this sound like a normal mod and if so I presume I just undo the hose (at oil pump end) drain, remove filter and proceed as
normal
If you need a pic I can try to take one..

on my 893cc blade the plug is on the bottom of the sump which is very very vulnerable to being knocked off which i think is what has happened to
yours, i assume a weld is a cheaper bodge compared to a forking out for a new sump pan

Look around the sides of the sump as the norm mod was to weld up sump plug and move it to one of the sides

As above. Look on the side. Welded mine up then just stuck another on the side of the sump. Easy

The part you are looking at is an oil cooler and the hose is a coolant hose, definaely not the oil drain.

When I purchased the BEC it came with a new un-used filter and 5lts of oil!! I'm guessing the previous owner was going to do an oil change but
failed to find the drain plug!!
With no sign of any plug the only way I can see to change the oil is to remove the sump!! If so I think I may look out for a second-hand sump before
doing the oil change..

are you sure its been welded, it may have been sheared off and the ally just smoothed over where the bolt was.

In order to drain the oil and remove the sump, just carefully drill a small hole (6 or 7mm) on the side of the sump where you would like the drain
plug to be. Drain all the oil, remove the sump, buy a suitable sump plug and then drill and tap the hole to enable the new sump plug to be fitted. Job
done.

Defo been welded, you can see the weld run..
Phil; Good idea. Mind you looking on EBay a 2nd hand sump is £25 + postage so I may just get one, clean it, blast it and hey why not powder coat it

it would be quite easy to take the hairdryer out of the car, and turn it upside down ,
so the 50mil of conditioner can flow out of the filer cap !!
problem solved ?

I am only joking!!
I did toy with the idea, but no reverse (my drive is slanted down to the garage)
and listeneing to 12k of bees buzzing around does not really appeal to me
But i did measure up for a goldwing lump a few years ago!!

Mind you at least we could turn our engines up-side down with out the use of a 10 tonne crane

Hi there FullPint (Steve),
I have a sump with a relocated sump plug (relocated to the side and orig. sump plug hole tig welded over). This was done for the above reason
mentioned that it is in a prime position to be knocked off, so it was moved before that happened.
I have since old the car and so it is for sale if you are interested in it?
Saves drilling and tapping your sump with oil in it!!!
