HUGE thanks to 3ge components
Fitted the reverse gear, bracket and starter motor. With a bit of grease it works a treat. The starter is Golf mk4 which goes counterclockwise.
Huge thanks to John, even though he is very ill, he still managed to make this for me.
Below is a photo, sorry its poor but my phone is pants
He laser cut the gear and its in 2 parts so that it can be removed without removing the bearings.
Look at 3ge website should you want something similar.

I put a brace in, as when enagaged it prevents the bracket from moving.
