Quaife gear lever
Evening, getting near the stage of wanting to close up the tunnel but before i can i need to sort out a lever for my quaife reverse box. Anyone got
any pics of the mechanism you have used for changing gear? Also what have you used for the handle/knob of the lever.
Thanks in advance Greg

Here is what we have done. We have ditched the original linkage as the lever was too far away from the driver when strapped in, have bolted a plate to
the chassis tubes, added a long rod and now the lever is perfectly reachable and as an additional bonus, it now works the logical way round: forward
for forward and back for reverse...
Hope this helps...
But make sure that you secure the whole quaife unit to the chassis properly, using the strongest available Loctite, as ours has now become loose even
with Loctite and is a pig to get to...

I used water jet cut aluminium 9own design) with spherical bearings at all ends (both lever and linkage). The upper part of the plate to which the
lever is atatched is fixed to the chassis mid horizontal rail whilst the end of the linkage is atatched to thesmall lever supplied with the box. Its
got a very prcise and positive feel
Weight including the leveradn knob as shown in teh picture is 600g
i have picture of the whole unit fitted in the car should you need
