and by the looks of the rivets - drill them out and repack and revivet so make it repackable

Kriss,

The riveted aluminium ends are just for show. They are pretty end covers that's all. The can is welded shut underneath.

Its not repackable in the way you are implying. you would still have to cut it open, sorry

cut it open, the little packing that there is around the outer perforation is knackered so gonna have to buy a new can, ebay here i come
