06 R1 plumbing
Sorry i know this has been covered a billion times on here!! But what id like to know is the diagram below if i were to plumb my 06 R1 in the same way
as the 03 diagram will there be any problems with this or is it different in anyway, need to know before i start cutting my very expensive

Looks exactly how I did mine (05) and works fine.
Use a plastic header tank and mount it higher than your water system. I also recommend you use a rover mg bottle with a float level switch so that
you can wire a warning light on your dash.
Ensure bleed hoses are 6-8mm ID and the bottom hose to the expansion bottle is about 16mm ID

why use a plastic bottle?
i got a wee aluminium header tank from cbs.
plumbed in exactly like that on my 03 and ive never had any problems.

Nothing wrong with aluminium, it is just the plastic one will allow you to keep an eye on the system level without taking the cap off.
If you keep taking the cap off you upset the water system.
Any air under pressure will expand as you take the lid off, plus by removing the cap you are increasing the chance of causing a leak by getting a
poor seal on doing it back up.
You really should not need to open a sealed system unless it needs topping up.
Most modern car manufacturers say their antifreeze is there for life, because you shouldn't need to open it except if there is a problem.
