Modifying n R1 exhaust
Hi all.
I have an R1 silencer that needs modifying to fit onto my system (to keep the noise down and add a second cat for SVA emissions).
Can anyone recommend a place where I can get the work done - or where I can get the parts I need
Cheers

Read my post here before you decide what to do.
I'm sure I have seen someone like MK or Mac1 doing an exhaust with a cat one end.
I bought a seperate cat and used an aftermarket can which is too loud.
Not sure how an R1 can will do as the bike had 2 fitted?

It's a 2003 R1 can, so just the one silencer with a cat built in (IIRC the later models have the cat in the header/collector).
The big difference is in the way the silencer is baffled, so is a fair bit quieter than my standard silencer.
I also have one of the small stainless cat's from the US ahead of the silencer, so this is just a bit of overkill on emissions (on of my fail
points) and hopefully soirt noise too (another fail point).

Just make sure that you put max power at 10K, not 11.8K as I was advised!
I don't think you need a second cat if you have the same as me.
Description
Mine passed emissions with a borrowed power commander map, but mine is an 05 engine.

I put the max power at 10,000 revs.
I just to say failed emissions - the carbs were running a bit poor at the time and have now been thoroughly cleaned and balanced, so that might
actually make the difference to get a pass at re-test time.
I know the standard R1 silencer is quite a quiet can, and cheap too, but it does need a bit of fettling somehow to make it fit.

I had a carbon r1 can and additional cat fitted. 96 db @ 7500rpm last month at sva
Andy
I have the setup off my car now, if it will fit straight on to your car without altering it, you can borrow it. If your interested let me know and
I'll measure the length from the link pipe to the outlet
