R1 oil level light

My oil level switch doesn't have a wire coming from it, its been cut flush

so i'm trying to stop the blooming oil light from flashing, i thought just earthing the wire from the clocks would do it but it didn't!
reading the manual, it looks like it needs a resistance
have tried a 510ohm and a 120ohm to earth but that don't work either
am i just gona have to get another switch
i can't let it win
