the ring killed my engine
been to the nurburgring last week and on my last and final lap i could hear a wining noise like a belt been too tight but obviously there are know
belts then the noise stoped and so did the car as it put 4 litres of oil onthe track i got out and lifted bonnet and can see a pice of castng cracked
to right of oil filter think it is were the oil pump lives not got engine out yet but the oil caused 4 motorbikes to crash and it cost mea fortune to
get my car back 1468 euro to clean track etc and recover my car go some pics ill post them latter

The first time i went, one of the guys in my group left a trail of gearbox oil about 4km long. The had marshalls on the track that day - that cost
2500 euros to clean up!

Damn! Bad luck OP!!!
That porsche was so pissing coolant everywhere..... Oh well, hope the porkers repair bill was suitably large for being antisocial.... I suppose the
moral of the story is- if you develop a fault on the ring, pull over and get recovered!!

Lucky you didn't kill anyone....you would have been paying for the rest of your life.
As your insurance will, almost certainly, not cover Ring use you could have faced unlimited 3rd party liability as well as the cost to clean the track
and paying for the closure.
Sorry to hear of the demise of your motor (the Ring has a history of killing BEC cars) but you got off light compared with what could have happened.

thats really bad news, but happy knowone is badly injured.
i also hope the car gets back and up and running too.
why is the ring such a bEC killer then? Say anymore than a normal track day doing 10-15 laps?

Not entirely sure but there are sections which are flat-out for a very long time ( one section springs to mind where you are flat to the floor for 30
secs up a relatively steep hill) as well as some very high g corners (Carousel as a for instance). There have been a number of BECs die on the
Ring.

the ring is alot hillyer than u would imagine and once your tyres are warmed up the cornering force is mad will go again but in a (ring dog) some old
rear wheel drive pice of crap worth nothing then if it does brake ill just leave it at side of track and run into the trees lol

Was it a standard engine or did you have a sump baffle fitted?

So you could be liable
I know a guy who hit the armco in his CSL, they billed him £2500 for the recovery and repair of the armco.
If you had a policy with track day cover, would you be OK then ?

Be very interested to see how you get on with this. Does your policy exclude the Nordschlief by name or refer to one way toll roads ?
Track day cover doesn't apply as it is considered to be a public toll road under German law...hence why there is 3rd party liability and why you
will get pursed for the cost of the bike repairs.
