youngest builder on here
john_p_b - 31/7/04 at 10:15 AM

just having a boring saturday morning laid up with a bad back when i should be out getting a engine to fit!

wondering what the average age is for builders on here? i get a load of stick from lads at work as i'm only 22 and they have the opinion i should be out spending money on drink and drugs rather than building a car!

Smooth Torquer - 31/7/04 at 10:18 AM

Well your not quite the youngest here, as im 17

Sam

john_p_b - 31/7/04 at 10:22 AM

knew i wouldn't be the youngest here by any means, just curious

tom_loughlin - 31/7/04 at 10:44 AM

im 21, and often think i should be spending my money on drink etc... but why not do both??
thats what i do anyway!!

colibriman - 31/7/04 at 11:19 AM

It aint me.......I'm 37

but who IS it.....(cue Peteff.........)

Peteff - 31/7/04 at 01:00 PM

I'm only 52, there must be older than that. What's he doing with a bad back a young lad like that? He wants a pair of boxing gloves for bedtime by the sound of it. .

millenniumtree - 31/7/04 at 02:50 PM

I'm 24 and vegan (I don't eat meat, eggs, dairy, wear leather, wool or silk), I also don't drink alcohol, don't smoke, and don't go out to bars or fast food restaurants.

I'd LIKE to build a locost, but I've got no money to buy bits yet.
My locost won't have leather seats or steering wheel either. There's something disgusting to me about draping your vehicle in another creature's flesh.

Scotty - 31/7/04 at 03:16 PM

sounds like you dont spend much money on the "essentials of life" so what do you spend your money on ?????

ps you didnt mention loose women

pbura - 31/7/04 at 03:17 PM

Another dinosaur here (52 in December).

Phelpsa is only 13, and he's a sharp little so-and-so

David Jenkins - 31/7/04 at 03:24 PM

Dinosaurs of the world unite!

Back to the original post Young Kris is 18 and has been building with me for a number of years. Quad bike overhaul ,a lawnmower powered kett car that did sixty kmph, his fiesta sorted and mot.
It helped him get a job at the local garage as an apprentice.
So Kris is 18 and starting to build as soon as we get this one outa the way.

Yeah i find dairys are hard to digest too, especially the medium to large ones that, perhaps, employ 300+ workers.

Cita - 31/7/04 at 09:40 PM

If age is directly related to the posting than i'm only 6!!!!

stephen_gusterson - 31/7/04 at 09:46 PM

on a similar note, i have trouble with diaries. the pages are ok but the ink is a bit sickly. and the damn page mark sticks in your throat...

James - 31/7/04 at 10:20 PM

One of the judges that came with us for the kickboxing competition was a raw food only Vegan....

...you can imagine how well that worked out in Bulgaria!

On the other hand... he was a lot slimmer after no food for 7 days!

Thing is, he told us he wasn't that extreme... knew someone who only ate peanuts!

James

Peteff - 31/7/04 at 10:57 PM

You are what you eat.

Vegetable it is then.... Cabbage anybody .
edit :- I'd hate to be trapped in a lift with him.

Aston - 1/8/04 at 06:40 AM

I'm 20 years old, just starting the build. That doesn't make me the youngest, but it does make me pretty dang young.

Cita - 1/8/04 at 08:37 AM

20,21,24 hmmmm.......

"those where the days my friends-i thought they'll never end...."

No worry's about a nice haircut-sitting on the sidewalk whenever you wanted-a good anti war gathering every 3 days-plenty of jobs and the same uniform every day-getting stoned for free just by the smell of it in a coffee shop.

Joan Baez singing her song about the rich and asking plenty $$$$ for one show
The capitalistic system we lived in was crap will cashing the wellfare check
Ché Guevara was no terrorist but a freedom fighter and the Canadian seals were saved by protesters wearing jeans made by children for 10p a day.

"those were the days my friend-i'thought the never end"

thekafer - 1/8/04 at 12:20 PM

I'm 42 going on 24....I'm covering my seats in raw meat...

LOL, if you're stuck on the prairie you can eat them.

The missus wants leather, let's see if I can afford them.

phelpsa - 1/8/04 at 04:11 PM

Honestly, I don't look 13 either, I am 5' 11" and eat whatever I can get my hands on (which isn't very much at boarding school).

Qn. If we weren't meant to eat animals then why are they made of meat?
Also, why do we have incisor teeth for chewing meat?
Surely leather isn't flesh, it's hide.
Finally, if you don't go out to eat, drink etc how come you aren't loaded with enough cash to buy the parts to start your build?

I believe you can convert an internal combustion engine to run on vegetable oil, sorted.

stephen_gusterson - 1/8/04 at 08:54 PM

for good or bad, the whole friggin world's animals eat each other. Thats the only example you need really.

Also, what did a cabbage, carrot or apple do wrong to get eaten? Its also a living thing.....

JoelP - 1/8/04 at 09:00 PM

come now gentlemen, if he wants to eat what he wants, who can object? he doesnt need to provide reasons, or even have reasons. Many things i do i have no real reason for, its just the way it is for me. like i always have the peanut butter infront of the marmite in the cupboard, and the weetabix at the right. its just the way i feel it should be.

stephen_gusterson - 1/8/04 at 09:03 PM

I have weetabix on my right and there is nothing I can do about it. I have no choice.

Its their main friggin factory about 400 yds from here.

ps

thinking about it.... what can a vegan cover their car seats with.... I can only think of cane chairs....

cant use leather - dead animals.

cant use wool or silk - from animals.

can use anything like acrylic, nylon or whatever - they are made from oil, which is the remains of compressed dead animals and leaves.

bolloxed really.....

Mark Allanson - 1/8/04 at 10:29 PM

.. I can only think of cane chairs....

Just like the first Fiat 500's, suicide door and all. The didn't need petrol, just a saucer of milk at bedtime

Not having any seats isn't that bad, but what's really worrying me is the no steering wheel bit...

Simon - 1/8/04 at 11:47 PM

I only eat vegetarians

Like cow, sheep, deer, chicken, horse (well maybe once in france when I didn't know what it was!)

Don't eat fish - vile. Or drink alcohol - get pissed on 1/2 pint!

Friend of mine says he's vege but eats fish.

Since when did the human race start planting fish!!!
