Watch Spares?
Guinness - 18/6/09 at 06:45 PM

Does anyone know anywhere that sells spare parts for watches.

My Dad and I have a pair of Tag Heuer watches. Both Automatic 2000 Series, mine is stainless steel and his is stainless and gold two tone.

His strap has broken, and a complete genuine replacement looks to be about £235!!

Note, I think, that this one on ebay is a fake, as the ones we have don't have the strap detail embossed on the clasp bit.

Failing that, is anyone going on holiday soon?

Lucky lucky?

Mike

I'd go to an authorised dealer for a quote and get a service at the same time. No point paying top dollar for a watch and skimping on repairs.

I have a different watch but my tag emblem is not embossed on the clasp. Ask the ebay seller if it is a genuine strap then wait for the reply.

How did the damage happen? My son dropped my Rado watch onto a tiled floor and smashed the glass (actually sapphire and very difficult to break normally - kids!) and damaged the clasp. Because it happened in the house, it was covered by my contents insurance and they paid out £380 for repair. £120 of that was for a service, as the manufacturer would not replace the glass without doing a service in case any glass had got into the watch.

I am guessing that the strap just has broken pins in it. Get a watchmaker to put new pins in.

I've had success getting a genuine tag clasp off ebay, only about £20 I think, so worth a look if its more than just pins.
