Can't believe what I just saw and heard on Eurosport Rally GB coverage - 1st stage cancelled due to ICE and SNOW!!!!!!
WTF?
Maybe they should fight the Championship on a Playstation......I remember following it around the country in the good old days when you could be sure
of being freezing and getting stuck in snow in a forestry somewhere.
very true mate are you gonna make it down to the xmas meet mate
cheers
colin
Hallo Col,
Gonna try but can't promise - certainly ain't gonna bring the Luego 'a la Worx'!!!!
What those rallying chaps need to start using is things like 4 wheel drive and special tyres and stuff like wot they use on the Monte.....Roger Clarke
be spinning in his grave!!!!
And Tony Pond!!

If the stage hasnt been "groomed" they wont run it. Besides they may not have the correct tyres to run under those conditions. Remember
trees always win when cars are concerned.
With insurance premiums for these events going through the roof they don't risk very much anymore.
Sign of the times

The special stages at the heliport in Cardiff used to be superb, amazing atmosphere, then they put it in the Millenium Stadium and ruined it.
Rich, we used to follow the Rally too, even took a two week sicky to prep a MK II Escort for the occasion
1100 shell, standing on the scuttle bashing the bulkhead with a sledge because the pinto box wouldn't fit
Memories........

Theyre only allowed a certain number of tyres these days.
Someone somewhere decided that tyres for snow and ice wouldn't be neccessary.
We all decided to hire some cars to follow it in 1994....went to the local Ford dealer and booked 2 Mondeo estates for the week. Went to collect it
and was told 'sorry, we don't have any Mondeo's in, however we have an alternative for you outside'.....expecting some Fiesta vans
or something, we walked outside to find 2 new fully loaded Granada Scorpio estates!!! Heated seats, Ho Ho Ho!!
Took some washing afterwards though.....
Yes it's gone soft alright, watched 'From Harrogate it started' recently, a little bit of snow and ice did not stop them in these
days........well it did but you know what i'm saying.
And Stig won!
Dont they have to pick the tyres months in advance these days??
I remember something about Sweden few years back looking like to was going to be touch and go wheather there was going to be any snow, of course the
teams were worried as they'd all choose studs which would have been the wrong tyre if it didn't snow.
Could be.....seems a pity that the rules dicatate that the teams cannot be as competitive as they should be and organisers have to cancel stages for incorrect tyre choice - especially when the Manufacturers are there for advertising purposes in the main - and also when there are PAYING SPECTATORS out there!!! Not cheap these days....
