peterparsons - 18/6/08 at 01:48 PM

I've given up trying to get my MG tacho to work in my Locost, it must be faulty.

Do any of you know where I can get another one from ?

dosen't need to be an MG one but needs to be 100mm dia / black dial / chrome bezel

almost ready for the SVA, just need to fix the tacho and fit some nut covers.....

There are (at least ) two types of Smiths tacho. On the dial face it should say either RVI (older type) or RVC (newer)

The RVI is connected in series with the coil between Ignition +12V and the + terminal on the coil. Apparently the RVI does not work well with electronically-assisted ignition.

The RVC is connected to +12V and chassis to power the internals and the signal is a single wire from the CB side of the coil.
