Hi, I've bought myself a lambda sensor system with a boss from trigger wheels and I'm getting ready to fit the boss into the exhaust collector.

Before I go ahead with the welder, I just want to check a couple of things regarding it's position

1) The boss, shown below in orange, is slightly longer than the extent of the sensor as per A, it sort of shrouds the end. Is this done on purpose to protect the end of the sensor? or should the length of the boss be cut down so that the end sits flush with the sensor or shorter as per B?



2) Does it make a difference where the tip of the sensor is in relation to the centre of the collector? I was thinking the closer to the centre (position D) the better to pick up a better mixture of gas but this could perhaps obstruct the flow a bit? Maybe somewhere closer to the edge of the collector as per C?

Nice pics! I would (and have) gone with exactly what is shown in C (tip just projecting into the gas flow).

Also have it pointing down into the exhaust so condensation will tend to not stay on the end.

On tin-tops the boss is just deep enough to cover the thread on the sensor and everything past the tread on the sensor sticks into the gas flow, Its more than capable of standing the heat,
