Gel Coat Finishing

What are people's recommendations regarding 'polishing' gel coat panels ??

All of my fibreglass panels need 'a good clean' but I'm not sure whether to use good old Autoglym on them...

Should I also stay clear of those rotary polishers ????

TIA

Matthew

Farecla G3 is the stuff to use as recommended by people on here, excellent results and I believe it can be used with polishing machine, although not tried it myself.

Thanks for that.

A quick 'google' on Farecla G3 seems that it's the way to go..

I've never used an orbital polisher before, do people normally stay clear of them as they could easily create 'swirls ' ????

Thanks again.

with doing stuff to trade , the only way to finish a molded component is with G3 - if you can spot the swirls , youve got x ray vision .

Syd

What wax polish would you recommed?

I was under the impression that Autoglym resin polish would be ok...... ?????

Thanks for all the advice.

Oops. We've used Autoglym silicone resin polish a few times and the bodywork panels come up great. Surely silicone resin won't harm the gel coat

Whenever ive polished bodywork with G3 ive gone over it after with G10, brings up the finish like glass (clean glass that is before anyone asks!) G3 on its own will leave a dull finish. Take care with proper polisher and use plenty of water. I tend to use cheap cigarette lighter plug in stylee polisher (2 handle job not the cheap Halfords one), takes a lot longer but less chance of burning the bodywork or breaking through on the corners.

Ive used Zymol afterwards but its well expensive.

I hope this helps.

Darren.
