Are there restrictions for IVA on what switch gear you can use or is it just a case of labeling correctly?
I'm going for a retro look in my Sylva J15 so I've got one of these dash mounted rotary switches for the indicators:
http://www.carbuildersolutions.com/uk/dash-board-indicator-switch-black and may use a similar one for lights but is it OK to use toggle switches for
fog and hazards?
Also if you didn't have an indicator stalk what would you used to flash your headlights? Would you need a dedicated toggle switch or would the
rotary switch be sufficient?
i thought indicators had to self cancell ?,as for toggle switches, just make sure they are behind the steering wheel or have a guard like the ones on the BMW mini
Unless they are in the untested area behind steering wheel all switches need to conform to radius test
Unless in the exempt area they have to meet the radius requirements. For toggles switch guards like MINI ones have been used.
I used a toggle for all my switches inc' indicators and for h/light flash. Auto indicator cancelling isn't an IVA requirement and head
flash wasn't for SVA (don't know for IVA).
I've used toggle switches for all my switch gear outside the exempt area, just used switch guards. You need to be aware that you get large enough diameter switch guards as they are also subject to radius test.
Hi Chris
Keep the switches within 120mm of the steering wheel rim and radius doesnt matter.
Pretty sure they dont need to self cancel but you must have a warning light on dash, in bright sunlight some of our lights (fair weather drivers most
of us) can be hard to see to remind you to cancel the signal a buzzer is useful but not a must have.
JP demo car uses one of those lever types that u see in the CBS catalogue if you get the illuminating one you probably wouldnt need the warning lights
?
I have fitted a digidash in the middle of the dashboard and i know from previous experience i use to hate trying to read the speedo etc in that
posistion but i couldnt fit it above the steering coloum as it was to big but im running out of patience and want to finish it !
