Any Recommendations for front spring ratings for a Locost race car. !!!
Springs on my car are too short, not allowing full adjustment on spring platform, so Im going to get some new ones, but no idea of spring weight.
Thanks in advance
Spring rates vary dramatically throughout the Locost grid.
I use 375lb/in on the front but AVO said that was way too stiff when i bought the dampers off them. 250lb/in was what they recommended and some
people do use that but i know one guy who uses 550lb/in and is still very competitive even though that seems over the top.
At the rear things are simpler as i think most people are around the 150lb/in mark.
Rob
Thanks for this. I thought everybody was probably using different settings, as is usual when the regs are free. I just wanted a starting point and
around 300 lbs was what I was thinking.
Cheers
It really depends on if you are using an antiroll bar. 300lb too soft if you arnt. robs soud more like it .
Message for rob tho. if i race a locost this year . I might. I will be wearing anti vibe transmitting helmet . if you can pick them up that far away i
wouldent stand a chance as close as locosters get in the race.
matt
LOL. Don't think you'd need it though - once we're out on track i'd be pretty sure that the only thing on your mind would be getting to the front!
Definately higher than 300 if you have no roll bar! what rates are you running on the rear?
Check the second post above...
Hi my vibes must take longer to reach swansea than they do hinkley eh rob.
cheers matt
Hinckley?? I'm in Barwell, who's in Hinckley?
Its rob he plays around with air at mira as a job . joking he is a fully qulified aerodynamasist (i think thats the right title ) verry useful chap is rob.
Why thank you Matt.
I used to live in Earl Shilton, so within spitting distance of Barwell, but now i'm back in Nuneaton. Not a million miles away though, and
i've just been past there to pick up my newly-powder coated rollcage from MPC in Peckleton.
Small world, well, around here it is!
Rob
Thats all right rob ill pick up my pr fee at mallory invoice in the post. Not testing at mallory toay then.
cheers matt
I actually planned to be testing at Mallory yesterday (less crowded) but delays with the new cage prevented that.
I will be there next wednesday though, so if anything goes wrong i may be knocking on the door of NS Dev with bits of broken Locost in my hand asking
for help...
LOL!
no probs! Got some stuff at MPC myself at the moment funnily enough!!!
Conveniently on my way to work at Desford Tubes!
Small world indeed!
ill be joining you wednesday rob, hope the weather picks up a bit, dont fancy ice skating!!
