I was at Silverstone yesterday, and my gearlinkage broke.
My car has a zx9r engine, but on looking at the Kawasaki parts online , it does not look like a Kawasaki part (or maybe I am being thick).
I have attached (or attempted to) two pictures of the offending item, in the hope that someone recognises what it is from, so that I can get a
replacement.
I has a number stamped on it: 601 268 1130
Cheers
Craig
Just looks like a sports bike remote shifter lever, bet most Kawasaki ones would fit, probably better with a steel one though unless you fit travel
limit stops

Hi This looks like the gear leaver that attaches to the spline comming out of the engine from gearbox,
Would be used to change gear with your foot normally.
You could try ebay or
Mk will make one with just a spline and a straight bit of metal comming off it so you can shape it and cut to you length,
Hope this helps and if im wrong im dur some one will post here.
Thanks
Sean
Thats the thing Mr Whippy,
I have tried to search the Kawasaki parts system, by the number stamped on it, but get no results.
I have also started to look at each Kawasaki bike individually to see if is from that specific bike, but it is a long slog.
It would be really great if someone reconizes it can and name the part/bike it is from.
Cheers
Craig
Its part of the gear linkage, the bit which fits on the splined output shaft from the gearbox, on the bike its connected by an adjustable rod to the
gear lever. I'd guess on the car its either solenoid controlled (paddles) or connected to a set of linkages to the gear lever in the car.
Try THIS

Sorry folks, I now understand what the part does.
The biq question I have now is what did it come from originally, it is not from a zx9r, so where do I get its direct replacement?
Cheers
Craig
Think most bikes have the same spline size so it might not be from a Kawasaki. Could just be a convienient size one from something else that was
used?

Why not ally weld it, or even use one of those Low temp ally welding processes, like the foreign chap always demo'ing it at the rally's.
Or Technoweld (Ive used this and its pretty good).
No one will see it if the result is not pretty.
Just a thought.
Unfortunately, welding it back up, or other technique, is not really an option, as the splines have been worn away. Hence the need for a new
version.
Cheers

I recon an ebay search in motorcycle parts for Gear Linkage, is the best bet, hopefully you'll find one that looks the same, or near enough to be
modified to fit.
Perhaps ebays only remaining redeeming feature, most sellers display pictures.....
This is from Bike Bandit for the ZX9R.
Isn't it the crank at the end of the shift mechanism?
Ben B, if you mean part number 13236A in the diagram you posted, I do not believe so.
13236A does not have the splined hole at the end.
The bit in question, is more like an elongated part no. 13242 without the rose joint.
I have been loking at ebay for hours now, still no luck
When I saw the part yesterday I thought it looked quite long. Much longer than the Yamaha arm. I put it down to being a Kawazaki. Perhaps it is
from something different.
Do you still have the phone number of the guy who built the car?
Colin, I pinged Austen a U2U last night, and he pingmed me back a note to say he thought it was a Kawasaki part.
If it is, I cannot seem to find it for love nor money.
You can see the part in the April edition of his build site http://www.greatplains.co.za/mk9r/index.html
But I cannot seem to find a direct replacement
What I would do is take it off, clean it a bit and go down to my nearest main dealer saying "can I have another one please". Let them earn
their money by looking it up for you.
Does it have a part number and manufacturer's name on it?
Colin, it has a part number on it.
601 268 1130 and what looks like a tiny mercedes benz logo on it, which I find very confusing.
cheers
Craig
hmmmm.
The 601 is a engine series from Mercedes. Maybe a engine part? Belt or pump?
Or is it a window lever or part from gear-box?

The arm was splined and was the right diameter but much longer than a bike shift arm. Perhaps it is a part from a merc. You could ring a local dealer and quote the part number. Their computer might find it for you.
The RAC and I phone a merc place the other day, no luck with it, - they could not find the part. but I may try another dealer.
I looked online yesterday at Merc parts, and used the part number but no luck there, either - hay ho, the search continues.
