One for those getting perfect results with gear shifters. What are you using?

Hi there

What gear shifters are people getting complete success with? I've been looking at the proshift and it looks nice but it’s a tad pricey. I'm looking to get one with flappy paddles and clutchless up and down changes.

thanks in advance.

Jason

I went with the Flatshifter as I heard good reports and it does both Upshift and blipped downshift but haven't finished my build so can't comment from experience.

The flappy paddle arrangement was supplied direct by MNR.

Thanks for that, I had a good chat to Flatshifter today and its looking promising.

have you got any pics of the paddles MNR supplied?

FYI the Flatshifter looks as if it uses the exact same bits as the Trickshifter (for the shift rod sensor and blipper).

I'm interested in the MNR paddles.

Are they mechanical or electrical (used with a linear actuator shift rod thing)?

Just ordered a Flatshifter myself yesterday after chatting with Andy at AB Performance, if in doubt give him a call.

i use the kit as supplied by aries motorsport, it works perfectly. I am planning on getting the throttle "blipper" for the blade engine, supposed to work well according to a good friend who used to own a fireblade bike.

Im using a flatshifter on my car. Very pleased w both the performance and ease of installation. Ive got a '98 R1 engine now injected w Jenvey throttle bodies. The "autoblipper" came with the correct threads for the throttlebodies, everything just went together very smooth and worked straight out of the box without the need for any adjustments at all. Im very pleased.

rubberburner,

Do you have any photos of your install?

Specifically how close is the autoblip unit mounted to the throttle bodies.

My Trickshifter basically uses the same kit but I think I need to adjust the shift rod sensor a little and mount the autoblip unit closer to reduce the vacuum hose length.

found out the throttle blipper is an add on for the powercommander unit.

It simply replaces the idle screw and there is a support at the actuator end to keep it from falling off.

Hmm your vacuum pipe runs are quite long like mine.

I think I just need to adjust either the shift rod sensor or the vacuum unit itself then.

It seems to rev up a bit slowly and for possibly too long when I go for the downshift and so at the moment I've disabled it.

Its also a bit disconcerting when you're braking and shifting down and the blips kinda push you forward when you're trying to slow down.

The amount of blipp is adjustable at the control unit by turning a screw there according to the manual. I didnt have any need for adjustments so I havent touched it. My vacum lines are shortened by approx 10 cm from the delivered length.
