What other Honda bike engines are suitable for me locost?
Make your mind up, Andy! Xflow? BEC? Electric? what next - wind power?
I've said it before Andy - you're not going to achieve full satisfaction with anything less than 8 cylinders mounted in a V configuration. Now stop messing around with silly little bike engines and get on with dropping a V8 into it
just looking at options!!
Honda VFR800, someone on here's using one and I ride one...
Honda Pan European, V four again, a bit lazier but torquey...
Honda SP2 is a stunning motor... Would love to try one of these... Or maybe two?

Or again CBR1000F motors... Dirt cheap, unbreakable and very simple...
Or the CBR1100 Blackbird motor... Probably need dry sumping for ultimate reliability? (Don't shout at me... I've just seen a couple go pop
that weren't dry sumped...)

V4 bike engines might sound great, but the exhaust manifold is going to have to be a one off, therefore expensive. Just something to consider.
Coincidently I was reading in MCN this week of a guy who has done 100k on his 1996 blade and was wondering if he should do anything to the engine –
not that he has any problems, but he wanted to make sure. He was advised to leave it be. I was quite impressed!
The old cbr1000f is a good option, inline 4 and cheap as chips. A few on here as well so if you get stuck you can get advise. Its very different to
the 1000rr, the cbr1000f is a sports tourer – just google it for a picture, you’ll see its an ugly pig – but a fast ugly pig.
If your after cheap options I’d say you probably only have the old carbed blade, or the cbr1000f.
If you’ll look at other brands of bikes you could consider a zzr1100, old zx9r, old fazer 1000.
There isn’t much else that I’ve heard of being done on a budget. Remember though, that going off the beaten path might mean a cheap engine, but
everything else will be bespoke and therefore expensive, plus it might not be worth as much if you ever came to sell it. That’s what I based my
decision on.
