Electronic shifters
pathfinder - 5/11/07 at 12:50 PM

As you are probably aware I have been working with electronic shifters for the last 8 months or so.
Here is what I have come up with and a few prices:

Electronic shift kit complete with everything needed to install onto bike engine and engine kill module (similar kits don’t include the kill module). £480

Steering wheel mounted push buttons, cut to your design (you supply the DXF) in aluminium by waterjet (carbon fibre and cad work will incur extra charge). £55

Quick release electrical connector for removable steering wheels. £30

Steering wheel mounted flappy paddles. £180

All prices include P&P

Best Regards

Thom

Fantastic Pathfinder!

Just what I'm looking for following Saturdays blat.

Just a quick couple of questions if I may?

Does the engine kill work with carb'd engines? Does it allow flat upshifts and downshifts? I run a cable operated shift at the moment, would the soleniod have to be mounted at the engine end or could it be mounted at the lever end in the tunnel?

Any discount for an early adopter?

Cheers

Mike

damned you! more money i will be spending shortly lol

does look very nice! is neutral just a very quick dab of the button?

also, do the wheel mounted paddles clear sierra stalks?

another question probably daft i know but do you still need the clutch pedal to put it into !st gear first as most of the commercial designs do ???

yep you still need clutch for idling / puling away and probably downshifting too.

How smart is the controller?

Does it read gear position and do re-shifts?

Hi
Guinness:
Yes it will work with carb’d engines, basically all your doing is cutting the power to the coils for a split second, (the control module is adjustable) to allow flat up and down shifts, in theory you should be able to do flat down shifts but I recon a bit of clutch would be sensible.
The solenoid is a bit of a beast and I recon you would be able to mount it in the tunnel and shift your existing linkage (unless it is stupidly heavy).

dan__wright:
yes neutral is a quick dab on the paddle, however I would always recommend keeping a manual alternative just in case. It should clear the stalks but obviously it depends how big your steering wheel and hub are!

Jono:
No it doesn’t read gear position or do re-shifts

How did these paddles go then? Im unsure wether to look at this as and option or cable op.

How do you run the wires to the paddles on a non removable wheel??

charlierevell - 16/7/08 at 09:22 PM

That was useful! haha

I meant instead of the wired boss, but i've seen those coiled leads now and guess its those.

Anyone else using this system? How are you gettin on with it?

charlierevell - 18/7/08 at 01:12 PM

Hmmmm..... i have a sierra boss which is quite wide and i'm running a 270mm wheel. I'm not sure the paddles will fit! Bugger must look at that!

Pathfinder... you out there?
