bike carb balancer on ebay...
andrew.carwithen - 28/9/07 at 08:36 AM

Wasn't sure whether to post here or in the 'tools' section.
Firstly, apologies for not posting a link but being a numpty, I simply don't know how to...perhaps somebody more clever than I could do so?....
Anyway, I'm referring to ebay item no. 230175869985 for a bike carb balancer.
This seller regularly puts these on ebay.
On paper, it looks to be a simple, easy to use bit of kit (though it could be argued that the price is a little steep for essentially a length of tubing! Still, it is cheap as carb balancers go...)
Seems to have plenty of positive feedback.
Has anybody bought/used one of these?
Thoughts, observations appreciated before I part with the hard earned....

Andy

EBAY LINK

I've not bought one - in fact I've bought the "standard" looking carb balancer and as opposed to him saying that they are difficult to use - that isn't strictly true... It is quite simple to use and decipher...

I also only paid £21 (I think!) delivered for mine as it had perished hoses. A trip to the fish tank section of the pet shop sorted that out for £2...

I understand why you'd want your own Andy, but I'd happily lend you mine if you wanted to just borrow it?
I think I have a pic of it somewhere...
(this is it before I re-newed all the hoses!)

Steve

I would have thought its much easier to use a Carb-balancer type balancer with linear scales than a dial type one. One a linear balancer you just get the tops of the markers horizontal. On a dial type one you'ld presumably need to read the readings and make sure they all read the same.....

i made my own in the past,

4 pieces of transparent fish tank hose, cable clipped to a piece of wood in U shapes , pour equal amounts of coloured liquid (water with some ink in in),use the small regulators(again from the pet shop)
