never been wetter!!!

well i took my car home from 'Exhausts by Design' this afternoon in the monsoon weather! had no choice but to do it today. 40+ miles on duel carriageways at 40-50mph max in the pouring rain with no screen! just a helmet! After about 10 miles i was sitting in a 2-3" deep puddle in my seat! When i got home I got straight in the shower (to warm up as I couldnt possibly get anywetter!) when i got home, grinning like a cheshire cat with joy still! Didnt get above 6-7k the whole way as was too scared!!! lol! Had one little blip when i got near base tho in 2nd gear, and oh my god is it mental! span up the wheels so so quickly!!!

Then as soon as id got warm and the pins and needles had left my finger tips, i went out to the garage to dry the car off!

Pleased that the car got me home in one piece without anything breaking/coming off as it was the 1st time id driven it since the conversion.

I REALLY cant wait for some dry weather now!!!

last year i had a very similar experience-just after an engine change i had been to holeshot in bradford for a set up dyno,bright and sunny-left for home about a 25 mile trip and then yes the heavens opened-the seats are like buckets literally!!!!some very cold and uncomfortable gonads when i got in.
i think this year i have driven the least amount of miles in the car for as long as i have owned kit cars.

I might drill one or two drain holes in the bottom of the base for drainage incase i get caught out in it on track! wasnt very pleasant!

A couple of drainage holes in the bottom of the seat is a good idea. If you drain two holes further back in the cockpit then the water can drain out of the seat into the cockpit, run back a little, then drain out of the car but the water can't splash up into the seat (unlike if you have to holes straight through the seat and the bottom panel of the chassis).

Hmm. I am wondering whether it is worth fitting self bailers like I have on my dinghy! They are below the waterline and when you open them up and are traveling forward they suck water out of the boat due to venturi effect!

So now you are back on the road we will have to go out for a bit of a hoon. Get DIY Si back on the road + Scutter and Greggors, that could be 5 whole cars at a meet!

I'm still off the road with a lack of exhaust - weld let go on the MK exhaust during Brunters a couple of weeks back. Parted company with the car at about 85mph - fortunate that it didn't take the rear wing off as it went! Not got round to sorting it yet

I think I need a bigger can as the standard MK one was tripping the driveby "sound trap" at Brunters. I was pulling 97 on the driveby when the limit was 87!

87!!! thats rubbish! drove the car to work today! Ive damaged my wing with the pipe! i think it must be flaming a fair bit! its burnt the gelcoat off! oops! will have to mod the pipe with a 90deg bend and fit some carbon wing protectors!

LOL - as people have said - drill some holes in the seat, then in the chassis floor behind the seat - make sure you paint them so they don't start rusting.

I also use motocross waterproof bottoms - ace things that stay behind my seat - as soon as it rains - pull over, whack em on - totally dry - only about £15 off ebay as well

yeah i had some regatta water proof trousers t wear, but got so wet so quickly i couldnt be arsed to change into them, i just wanted to get home! lol!

in my car as long as you are going over about 50 the water stays well out.

It's the traffic jams you gotta watch
