I've now sorted out a decent way of attaching the cable to the pedal with MK's grub screw clevis doo darr, so that's one thing out of
the way.
I was originally using mountain bike brake cable, but didn't think it was strong enough, so I bought some 3mm wire and outer from Vehicle Wiring
Products.
After brazing a nipple on one end, I fitted it all together and the wire just grinds against the outer which isn't lined.
Bloody frustrating I can tell you.
What have other people used?

how about the clutch cable from the bike? guess it depends on how long you need it to be but mine is a short run so it's fine....

Mk3 Cortina / Mk2 Escort clutch cable is what I always used and I believe what Westfield supply in the Megablade kit.
Ive used the same again on the R1 but chopped down to about 50cm long as the R1 can be made to pull the clutch lever directly towards the clutch pedal
quite easily.
I used standard R1 cable chopped down and turned clutch arm 90 deg and one of MK's clevis fitting on clutch pedal.
the heat required to braze nipple on has probably made the cable brittle

Not so easy to turn the clutch arm around on a 'blade though, as its welded on.
must admit i've never had a problem fitting a clutch cable to the blade in the MK. I just bought a length of inner a length of outer a clevis
fitting and a barrel fitting 2 cable adjusters off a couple of old cables off mates had a top-hat made up to go in the tube that goes through the
chassis into the footwell, just had to make sure I didn't have too tight a bend

Yep it was OK with the cable bent round the engine bay when I had my blade, as you say just need to make sure the radius of the bend isnt too tight. I think the Escort / Cortina cable I mentioned above is just about the right length to do that.
Just been out and taken a couple of photos hope they help, I fitted the clevis to the end of the cable then fitted it to the pedal then passed it
through the tube in the chassis then the top hat and cable adjuster then the outer cable

The cable then routes round the back of the header tank then through the cable adjuster on the blade onto the operating arm

I then fitted a barrel nipple to make the final connection as a security method i used a cable tie to make sure it didn't come out
