Whats this bit? - 00 R1
RichieC - 7/7/06 at 02:27 PM

Hi,

Im sure someone has told me before but Ive completely forgotten and cant find the thread.

What is this bit which bolts into the head on the R1? I dropped a bolt down the back and had to remove it and not sure if there are any precautions to be taken in reinstalling. Its under a good bit of spring pressure so maybe the piston is driven by the camshaft?

Thanks for any help

Could it be a tensioner?

Its the cam chain tensioner, you should be ok if you have just removed it then refitted it!

Yeh sorted thanks guys.

Just a case of winding it back into the body, fitting it and releasing the spring again.

Would have been stacks easier with the manual to hand
Cheers
