Am i getting deja-vu?

A front wheel drive Indy

I'm not sure that's a good idea

chunkielad - 24/2/05 at 10:07 PM

Why FWD? It's a shaft drive engine so could have a shaft extended to the back.

Mr G - 24/2/05 at 10:28 PM

This would help

i was'nt being this engine specific, just pointing out what options are available for mounting a bike engine transversley

Cheers

Is that photo reversed, or is it a LHD?

In my Indy, steering column on right and battery tray is on left. Looks other way round on this?

This is LHD - RHD needs creative steering column routing.

Those Muffett diffs look excellent for bike engines. Anyone have any ideas about the price of one?

I have a nasty feeling they could be pricey.....

mangogrooveworkshop - 27/2/05 at 05:40 PM

Its a shafty with an upside down diff and Yes the wheel is on the wrong side

alister667 - 1/3/05 at 05:32 PM

Sorry to reply to my own question but I sent off an enquiry to Muffett about thier diffs.

Hello Alister,

Thank you for your enquiry.

Prices for Diff. units are #2440 + VAT + Carrage for TSR300CD and #2650 for TSR300IL

Current delivery is early May for both types as we have sold out!
We sell direct.

If you require any more details please contact me, there was a good artical on the TSR300IL in Feb's Kitcar mag.

Regards

Neil Rodemark

Two and a half grand for a diff!! That's about half what I was planning for my next build. Even if it is a really nice diff.......

sgraber - 1/3/05 at 07:18 PM

Who owns the car in the photo? Someone here on the board?

I very much would like to know more about running the diff upside down in that car! I am sure that the whine from driving the pinion on the coast side must be horrible! But I need to know for certain!

Can anyone PLEASE give me more detail about the driveline on this car? I hate to beg, but I am looking at a locally available FJ with less than 1000 miles. Complete car kit for $400!

If I could just confirm the reversing issue I would buy it for my next la Bala.

I might be wrong here...but would it not be possible to take a front diff from a normal rotating engine and use it in the rear? I'm not sure we ever got anything like the Cosworth 4x4, but Dennis is selling two here.

Would this not eliminate the need for flipping the diff? Someone will let me know if I've lost my mind...
