Modified R1 4XV Airbox
monkey2608 - 30/4/14 at 03:10 PM

Hi all,

After a lot of head scratching and deliberation I have decided that the 4XV airbox on my MK Indy isn't working to its full potential.

I have wanted to use the standard airbox due to the volume and design but anyone with this setup knows that the airbox is rotated and the air intakes are to the side which isn't ideal.

I know this has been discussed many times, so I am currently half way through cutting/resining a new design so the intakes are forward facing and hopefully work a bit better.

Will post up pics and details when I am finished.

Cheers

Chris

Hi
We reversed the airbox by making a new bottom for it
works perfectly & the advantage being that the air
intakes are now right under the bonnet air scoop.

Ours is a 2001 carbed R1, not sure if yours is the same .

Yes that is true but the air is almost going over the intakes and not being pushed in. On the bike it uses the frame/tank to force the air over and in.

I have only looked into this as I have Keihin FCRs fitted which need more air to match the fuel.
