Bedford trackday today :)
number-1 - 20/5/13 at 07:04 PM

Today was my 2nd track day in the BEC. The 1st was at brands and was a nightmare with to many problems to list

Today was much better. The only issues i had were... fueling.at low revs and high revs the engine runs fat and struggles...everything in between was spot on, the exhaust fell off, the heat wrap went white (black wrap) and crumbled lol and i was almost not allowed on track as my head was 2 to 3 inches above my roll bar! I got pulled up as i was about to go out after the sighting laps. The TDO and circuit managers spoke to me, then the circuit doctor! I can see why they did as i am far too tall for the car but has anyone ever heard of this before? Im well aware of noise, clothing etc but never heard of head height in relation to roll bars?

The roll bar/head thing is in the MSA blue book for construction of safety bars etc. You are supposed to be able to draw a line from the top of the roll bar to the foremost hard part of the car (top of the engine or chassis) and your head is supposed to be below that line.

For obvious reasons.

Only sensible for a track day too I would have thought

Yep had this before,

And so has a friend been pulled of when a passenger in a dax rush, saying height of roll bar was not safe,

Pic of the roll bar on my old dax rush gives you an idea

Glad you got through the day and noise is normally the problem there,

Glad it went well. I felt quite bad for you after your day at brands. Your car looks so nice and unique but being only off road allows for no testing.

I was going mention day roll bars but I was beaten to it! How the thought that roll bar design is sensible or even looks good I don't know.

No offence to day owners but it look like your car has already rolled over!!

How was Bedford as a track. I'm being persuaded to do Bedford but it don't really appeal to me. Long flat track.

Bizzle, its well worth doing. Its a long track but i had no issues at all. There were 87 cars there today which sounds like loads.....but i had plenty of laps without seeing anyone. The pit lane is long with loads of room. They are really hot on noise...101 static...85 driveby but the mics are easy to spot My static was 100.3 so pretty close but even at full rpm i didnt get any warnings on noise on track

I've done Bedford SEN track, and although flat, the track is good fun with only one straight being long enough to approach top speed in fourth.

We had an open pit lane and it didn't seem too crowded.

Bedford is good day Okay it's flat but it is very well thought out, bends that you can really attack, plenty of room to pass people and excellent surfaces, foods good as well.

Get it wrong and most of the time you will just slide on grass harmlessly.

Well worth a visit, if wet you need a gazebo.
