Fitting a ZX10r engine
roadrunner - 16/7/12 at 11:56 AM

When fitting said engine, is it wise to keep the engine at the same fitting angle as bolted to the original bike.
The reason I ask, is to try and eeekk some more hight for sump and air box(fitting original). Would there be any oil issues.
Also, has anyone got any pictures of a ZX10 engine in your chassis.
Brad.

When we've fitted ours, we've always made sure that the bottom of the sump is level. That determines the rest of it.

Keep the split line where the sump meets the bottom of the engine level.

I am going to try it with sump level and see what the height is like. Its the lug on the sump that I don't like.
When I had the zx9, I had to have the sump chopped, and it was never oil tight after that.

I am sure the sump bottom is parallel with the engine casing, so just keep it level to floor then.
But do you think there would be oil problems if not level.

Yep, Coozer is right, you want that split line however that tends to be parallel to bottom of sump, What sump are you running?

We use andy bates zx10 sump however that is for racing....

And yes there is more likely to be oil problems if its not level.

On the other hand i had my zx9r sump chopped and baffled and I've never experienced oil leakage, guess it depends on the quality of the welding (of which i didn't do LOL).
