Right then, I need info/help on some bike engine related stuff as I'm really not that clued up with them! Also to let you know I didn't build the car originally.

First issue is my hayabusa engine seems to be the early type as it has the external fuel pump bolted on up near the throttle bodies/linkage....correct?? However there is another pump mounted down the back end which is external to the fuel tank. Is this some sort of LP pump to get the fuel up to the front of the car and to the standard busa pump?? The only marking on it is a mitsubishi logo??? Can anyone identify it??

The second question I have is what does the cable that attaches to the linkage above the throttle cable do?? It is attached to the ford orange bonnet release lever on the underside of the steering cowling???
And also what is the other cable on the linkage (opposite to the throttle cable) do?? Its got an adjustable nob on the end And all I can think of is it's some sort of manual idle control???

looks like standard bike fuel pump to me and maybe the bonnet release has been utilised for the choke?

q3 is prob idle adjustment for tickover

I suspect your right re the fuel pumps.
I'm interested, do you have a swirl pot or a fuel pressure regulator?
Do you have a return back to the tank?

1. the fuel pump photographed is a low pressure fuel pump to bring fuel to the high pressure pump on the rail. the pressure regulator will be part of the pump and should have a return hose going back to the tank.

2. the top cable is fast idle up when the engine is cold, you can operate this to raise the engine speed, much in the same way as a choke. in fact the standard motorcycle lever has a choke symbol on it.

3. The flexible cable is the idle speed adjuster which can be remotely mounted in a convenient position.

Cosmick, thanks for the info, the fuel setup is as I thought then.....just wanted to make sure

Reman....as Cosmick said is how mine is set up, no swirl pot though

check out my photo archive to see how i have operated my throttle. It reduces the length of the cable by about a metre and makes the operation very smooth.

Nice idea there mate, did you use off the shelf parts or were they made as a one off??

If you look at your throttle bodies, you will see that there are 2 x 6mm holes already drilled and tapped to accept a home made bracket to take the throttle cable on the underside instead of the top. I also cut off the fast idle plate and no longer use it. the plastic wheel is home made as well and is drilled and located onto the original pulley, but you don't need to use the plastic wheel, you can still use the original pulley and connect the throttle cable to it. Hope that helps.
