Blade 919 vs kawasaki zx12
polomouth - 8/11/09 at 11:24 AM

Its time for the blade to make way for more power was thinking zx12 or maybe zx10. It will be going into a Mk Indy so if anybody out there has had any experiance of these engines any advise would be very welcomed with regards to fittting them as it will be a first for me,also what performance gains over the blade can i expect. Just to make sure it will all be worth while. Thanks For any advice given.

about 50bhp more at the wheels.......

Go for the '14

zx12r with a ape big bore makes it bigger than factory 14 by 50cc and goes like hell

I think hellfires car is 174 bhp and hasn't to my knowledge suffered any mechanical issues. A zx12 Locost has also just won its class in the BARC going against Hyabussa powered cars.

Main Problem is I get fed up of pushing Keith Backwards something to do with a reverse not being finished

not that much in performance difference on the road my indy r1 Vs eds indy ZX12R 0-120mph he gets to about 10 meters ahead of me

That would be on a race track road wouldn't it surely as we know the limits 70 or was it when you went on the Autobhan

The install should be fairly straightforward if you've done the blade before it. Mine was/is my first ever build and has all gone really smooth, I even did all the electrics myself which I am well chuffed with, only slight issue was I had a dead ECU relay which I failed to diagnose and had to get Chris Mason out to figure it out for me.

In terms of performance most BECs tend to be fairly equal, the difference with the bigger engines though is that with a passenger on board you won't see as big of a dip in performance.

I have a ZX12 in my MNR Vortx.
I only use it on trackdays.
It is quite a bit faster than a R1.
I have done 15 trackdays this year and it hadsnīt complained at all.

This will be my first attempt at fitting a new engine also, as the car was already built when i brought it. I was hoping that i would feel alot more performance from fitting a bigger engine also tho.

yeah on the road there wasnt a lot in it between my busa and my brothers r1 but on the track i left it for dead

until you get it on the track you may not notice the difference. Unless you go 2 up often. Then the extra weight will make less of a difference. My gsxr was slower with to but was still stupidly fast. By looking at vids nt can tell that smaller engines struggle more with 2 people. Obvious but worth a mention!
