Running a 2003 R1, modified airbox, and power commander was wondering if i can have it refueled as it back fires as i drop down through the gears.
What you think ?.
What map is in your PowerCommander already? If thats an unknown then that could explain your problems!
JimG is running a 5PW without a PowerCommander at all.
I'm running a PC3R on my 5PW and I have a map I got from someone else - don't have it with me as I'm away from home but if you do a
search you'll probably fine someone who does have it still.
That should get you somewhere close if you're running a sausage filter and normal ish exhaust.
What are you running air filter and exhaust wise?
Do you think its backfiring from being too rich?
air filter and box as in picture, home made manifold and exhaust system.
Yes i think its running too rich.
Power commander setting was messed about by me at sva to get the emmissions correct, so im not sure of the map at all.

mine pops and shoots massive flames with no map/no power comander at all
6 inch can, MK mania nd yamaha airbox with K'nN panel filter
If you're already happy tweaked the PowerCommander I don't understand the original question?
If you're not then your options are either a rolling road setup at PDQ or similar.
Or possibly buy a logging wideband lambda (that can also log throttle position etc) and have a go yourself?
I'm having mine set up next week on the rollers. I'm spitting flames on overrun at the moment! Looks impresive... but not ideal.
I should have a good map after that, but it might not be any good for you as mines an '06, although the rest of the system is similar. I'll
let you know if the guy is any good; At Oulton the other week, his Cappuccino on Lola running gear and Hyabusa power was pretty impressive despite
being unfinished.

ye, let me know Adrian

I thought that backfire can be caused by running lean. The fuel doesn't burn in the engine and goes straight through without burning fully. It builds up in the can until enough collects to go pop. Well that is what my local RR guy said....
Yeah you can get pops and bangs from running massively lean but in order to do so its normally that lean that it won't have combusted at all. So
its not actually dangerous (if its like that) as its just like a misfire.
Thats how Racelogic Traction Control works (cuts loads of the fuel so it misfires rather than cutting the ignition - which would mean LOADS of fuel is
unburnt).
I was also using a PC 3 USB map that someone with a "similar" setup provided... after a first rolling session I was gaining 30 hp!!!! And I
know I can have some more!!!
Joao
Joao,
So what figure did you have before / after the remap.
Also which map are you using that was costing you 30bhp as I may be running the same one!!! EEEK!
