bi22le - 13/8/09 at 10:32 PM

Im doing a track day soon and want to get a camera mounted. As you can see There is not a clear view due to the large rear view mirroe. I would like to see the speedo so I can work out fast and slow points for next time!
here are some pics, hope they work!

Can't see the pictures - only box with red cross. This happens occasionally but never found out why

Hi

The most obvious place is on the Diagonal in the main roll hoop. With it offset to the left it will give good view of the track and gauges will be clearly viewable. It will also make mounting in an acceptable manner easy as theres quite a few camera mount that will attach to roll bars very easily.

Cheers Matt

Hells bells!!! Thats some rear view mirror youve got there.

if you're really after seeing the dash you'd struggle to see that and the track.....

Fit it with a roll-cage mount to the left or right of the rear view mirror.

What he says. I'd go for getting the best view of the track and the front of the car so you can see your lines. You'll easy spot where you are fast/slow without needing the speedo in shot. This is from my old car, cam mounted on rear roll bar.

The dash is visible but speedo could only be read in the original footage, just. A narrower angle cam might help.

Its evolved now. I have the chance to use two cameras. That way I could have a front back situation. Or a speed good driving positon set up. I dont think a helmet cam would work. It would just look at ther rear view or cross bar at the front! I like the large rear view mirror. I have no blind spots and can easily see what going on around me. I know I could turn my head but that does not help with a bash hat on.

Thanks for posting up my photos! What did i do wrong?

you took the url of the page the photo was showing on, not the actual photo.

where did you get the mirror from? quite fancy one like that myself

You're better off having a gps trace or using the data logging function. The problem with trackdays is traffic so you'll struggle to follow the racing line all the time.
