Blade Engine numbers
Hi Guys
I'm thinking of buying a car that has spent it's life on the track and has never been registered so I will need to SVA it (if I'm
quick) The car has a Blade on carbs in it and I am wondering if it's likely to be a P.I.T.A to get the emmisions right?

What year is the engine? Carbed Blades can either be pre or post 1995. Obviously pre 1st August 1995 gets the easy emissions test at SVA but even if
it's post 1995, it shouldn't be a problem to get through.

the car is a 2002 so i guess the engine is 2000/2001.
As the car is going on a Q anyway can't I tell them it's a pre 95 and get the easy test?

Depends on the year of engine - if its pre 95 its a doddle, else you'll need a CAT at least
How will they know what year the engine actually is?
If the engine is 2001/02 then it won't be a Blade on Carbs.
You will need to find out what year the ACTUAL ENGINE IS and then you will know how simple the SVA will be. Although TBH a Carbed Blade engine is
simple either way...

Alternatively look for the CC capacity which is embossed on the engine block. If it says 893, you have a chance of the easier emissions at SVA. If the
number is 918 or higher, you'll get the stricter emissions test.

The Caterham Busa is done now and I'm looking to get a track hack at the right money. Mainly because I have never done a track day and I
don't want to make a kill the Caterham just yet.

What's wrong with taking a caterham on the track - I know which I'd rather be on track with!!!

thanks for posting the engine numbers.
I did want it for track days but I will also want to road test it once ive done mods ect. This track hack is also a Caterham but just a bit bashed up
so when I stuff it into the armco I won't get too upset.

yes a really nice car at a real bargain price. But unfortunatly not an option for me because I would want to SVA it and that would not be as easy
forme to do before end of this month.
