GRP bodywork

Just given up working on the bonnet this afternoon and this is the best I can get the bonnet to fit!
Is all the Avon kit like this? Or am I just the cursed one with the GRP bodywork?? Rescued attachment Picture 216.jpg

With kit cars you expect a bit of fettling, but that's taking the p&*#. I'd get onto them ASAP to sort out a set of panels that fit.

if you decide to write them a letter though, ffs make sure you address it to jim himself

i'd like to hope you'll get a better fitting panel, but from my observations, and friends' experiences, i'm not sure you'll get it much better.

sorry
tom

Mines about the same. its just been trimmed badly. I have some spare length in the bonnet so am planning on trimming it to fit.

Thanks
Adrian

Mines the same. The edge was trimmed at an angle so there isn't any grp to play with. I'm trimming the bonnet back to a straight edge then building up the nose cone in order to give an even panel gap.

"just like that !"

Matt

I had similar thing, mines red too. Time you clamp it down and fit the rubber cushioning strip and wait about 6 months you hardly notice it.
I see from your photo archive you have bike carbs. Will they fit with an air filter without having to cut the bonnet. Did you get the manifold from Bogg Bros?

Yes I did get the manifold and carbs from Bogg Bros also in the process of making a plate for the carbs, as it’s an injected cylinder head
I can’t get them to fit with an air filter
But I will try to find a way to not cut the bonnet if anyone else have done it please let me know?
Thanks all for the help
I will keep the ball rolling!!
