rose joint bush material
Evrim - 19/6/08 at 09:56 PM

Hi there,
I am making my slowly growing avon's rear bottom wishbones.I have my own lathe and i make my rose joint bushs myself from miled steel, but I worried about that if the threads will strip out.Is the miled steel correct material or am i have to use hard steel?

Thanks Rescued attachment P1000029.JPG

mild steel is what rally designs ones are made of (i think)

and bear in mind you can get aluminium rose joints...

legends race cars 4 link bars are threaded aluminium tube

are the rose joints made of harder steel, doubt it

the size threads you are looking at, mild steel is well up to the job

I used normal steel (ST37) and have no worries,

Hi mate,
Thanks for comments. The rose joint material seems like hard material but not sure(bought from tigerracing?)The rose joint is 1/2" UNF and I make drill hole 11.5 mm (according to the search from internet) the result seams ok.

As i'm on the continent i'm using a M12 one with a 12 mm hole. Mines are from SKF.

Greetings.
