Damper extension
Rudy - 17/8/06 at 07:34 PM

I had my rear damper too short so I try to extend with this. What do you think?
Does anybody try something like this before? If yes does it works fine?
Sorry for my English. Rescued attachment HPIM1308.jpg

It might work if welded together. I don't personally think that bolting it will be sufficient to stop the bottom part moving. And you don't want that!

i wouldn't use it bolted, there will be play on it. Only if you welded in maybe.

Aren't there longer coil-overs available?

Maybe you could lower the bracket by making a new one at a lower point?

By the way:
Did build the frame your self or is it tigers?

I was building by the book, but as the time growes it's getting less Avon.

make a longer top eye for the damper

I think it would be hard to move. I put this picture.
If it mooves than I will weld it as you say.
I do not know what means frame.
In Italy you do not find this type of coilover
I buy it in UK.
If frame means chassis then is a Tiger LHD. Rescued attachment nuovo-1.jpg

I think it will be moving, the extension won't be able to stop the moving

DIY Si - 17/8/06 at 08:04 PM

The top of the point on the extension will quickly roll over and allow the extension to move upwards.

You will have to weld it - the leverage will try and rotate the extension and put strain on the whole assembly.

Is that a protech shock? If so contact them. They do an extended top mounting eye that is 200mm higher than the standard one. I know because I changed mine when it was too short. I have some pictures somewhere if needed.
