Using 3 point fixed bekts for the SVA as the rear top rail is too high. You can just see the tubes in the roll bar for the top fixing.

If I fit harnesses after SVA I'm hoping they'll just come round the sides....

Looking good, like the wheels. Did you make your own manifold in the end? Where did you get the tube from or did you get the bends pre made? Ive heard theres a place at elvington on an industrial estate that sells it.

Is it an optical illusion or does your tail pipe point upwards. This may cause concern if it's on the kerb side. It's less noisy if it points down as well.

Yes Pete, it does point up.

How can it affect the noise?

I'll be using one of these to test it, as it's what I design as a day job

Sound is very directional.Imagine the end of the pipe is like a trumpet, louder in front of it than from behind. You dont want it pointing towards the tester!

P.s Can you measure the width of your car for me please

It just does. If you stand in front of a noise source it is louder than standing to one side of it. The tester puts his meter at 45* back from the car about a metre away and asks you to rev to 2/3 of your maximum. He might not like you blowing fumes at and possibly burning pedestrians with a backfire. All points to consider.

When SVA'd, we initially failed on the noise test. (104 db) The tail pipe was pointing towards ground and noise must have been bouncing down and up into noise meter. When orientation of tail-pipe was changed to horizontal, the reading reduced to 102 db.

From your post in the sva section Hellfire. Do you think this might have been something to do with it as well.

Yeah, possibly. Although the wire wool thing was our third attempt to get the noise level less than 101 db.

What I'm getting at, is, pointing the tailpipe down to the ground may not reduce the noise level picked up by the meter.

Sound does indeed bounce off surfacre and reflect but I'll not bore you further.

I'm not worried about the test as I have unlimited access to Sound Level Meters o measure my car, so will have a good idea if it'll pass. Also they use our Meters I think

I also know all the right (read dodgy) questions to ask if it fails, and will also know if he's doing something wrong
