First real drive pre SVA
Yesterday I had my first testdrive...It was 3 degrees, but still had a lot af fun
Only a few points that need to be taken care of..
Mudgarts for the front wheels, little stones where flying all over the place
Self centering was awfull,how can you fix this, I read about the springs, but what is the correct way for self centering?..
The trottlecable isn't pull back fast enought when the gaspedal is released..
Clutch was slipping after a couple of laps, what clutchplates springs is best for a zx9r and what oil is best, now I use fully synthetic oil...
On the positive site...the brakes were working very well, all bits stayed on the car , speedo was correct 30mph was 26 mph on the tom tom.All the
lights work..so very please with the result so far.I must say for 142bhp it is very fast, althought before the clutch started slipping

Do a search for self centering, it has been discussed before...........exhaustively !!!
You need more castor which means remaking your top wishbones.................thats if you want to live!
As to your clutch, are you supposed to use fully synthetic oil?
I don't know what the mods are for this clutch
Extra spring for the throttle cable and perhaps one on the pedal too?

For my throttle cable I have a spring on the other side of the throttle cam. So bowden cable outer and inner from pedal to throttle cam, then from
the other side of the cam (where other half of push-pull would be on the bike) there's just a cable inner with spring on it.
You can see the spring on the bottom of this picture sticking out between carb 2 and 3. Fastened at each end under tension with allan-key doofers
(ignore the other bits it's a recycled picture ): -

Otherwise you can put a spring on the pedal itself.

I called mk about the self centering and was told to set the tracking to toe out a couple of degrees for the test.
my indy passed sva no problem.i was told that as the rack is narrowed self centering is almost non existent.
had no problems with my steering though....

I would very much doubt you are supposed to use fully synth in a ZX9R engine.
I would recommend semi synth.
Fully synth does have a reputaion amoungst the bike community of making clutches slip when put in an engine not designed for it and as such the extra
effort of trying to pull the car might be just too much.
Also check you have enough slack in the clutch cable. even if it is just taught it may pull enough to start slipping.

nearly fixed...
Ok took the clutch apart, new kevlar plates and 30% stronger springs are on the way..

Loosened the nuth on the steering colum, now the steering goes al lot easier which will help the self centering...

HI when i had my SVA i had the steering 2-3dgs toe out + tyres at 30 pounds
my car has been on the road for 4years and i am still alive
and i drive hard

Not sure you should loosen that part of the steering rack. from memory it's apart of the pre-load on the rack...
